Prayer Meeting 3/11/2010

Today's prayer meeting only attended by 6 people including Bro Chee Lim. Everyone is busy on their tests and etc, and today's prayer meeting is almost the end. It's still uncertain whether we are holding any of them next week. As usual we begun our prayer meeting updating our past week. Then followed by Praise and Worship, song entittled Jesus, we enthrone you. We commenced our discussion with question. What is serving? Some answered; serving is a two-way communication, just like a customer and the cashier, some mentioned about the willing to do something and to do things for others. The subsequent food thing to ponder is Why must we serve? Some answered Serving can give joy, some say in return's God's grace we could do the least to re-pay HIM, and some got inspired by the holy scripture "For Jesus is here to serve, not to be served."

Then we move on to Bible Sharing session. Today every scriptures will be shared regarding serving~.
[N.I.V] Matthew 20: 26~28
A Mother's Request


²⁶ Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, ²⁷ and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— ²⁸ just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

--> Even Jesus, the Son of God have to serve too. The Lord does not matter what action you did to serve HIM; either big or small, but then more importantly towards the attitude and also the motive. Through serving we can transform our character even more towards Christ-like. If we didn't transform in one another way, ask God why you didn't transform; probably HE will ask you to change in certain areas where doesn't satisfy HIM.

 

[N.IV] Malachi 3: 14~18
Robbing God

 ¹⁴ “You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the LORD Almighty? ¹⁵ But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.”  

--> It's true that for now the evildoers escape from all the actions above for now. But how long will that last?

The Parable of Wedding Banquet

⁸ “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. ⁹ So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ ¹⁰ So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
   ¹¹ “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. ¹² He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.

-->This parable has a relation of "The day when Jesus return" . By God's grace we are offered with salvation, nevertheless we still need to prepare ourselves before the Lord arrives. What would you expect when Jesus comes back? If we don't prepare ourselves from now, what would you going to present when Jesus questions you? The ugly side of us where we wonder around with bottle of beer getting drunk? Therefore, we need to work hard to maintain a close relationship with HIM. It also relates to the last Sunday sermon whereby we need to work hard in our lives. This is because God promises blessings and rewards when we worked hard.

The main culprit where we are getting further away from God is because of bad influences. Keep clinging on God in any situation and do not lose Faith. God Bless~
